Hello to all that have inspired me...

Hi!

I'm a 34 year old married mother of 7 year old twins. I have been heavy most of life, but have reached my heaviest (298lbs) back in April 2008. Since then I have dropped 40lbs, but between the holidays, lack of motivation and low will power, I have gained back 8lbs and have really had a heck of a time of getting back on track.

I have read so many members posts and seen their before and after pictures that I have decided to stop lurking and get myself involved. I want to congratulate each and everyone of you for being brave and taking the first step of finding a great support system in this forum. I am proud I have gained the courage (something other than more weight, for a change :ack2:) to follow in your footsteps.

I look forward to meeting and speaking with all of you while we go through our journey together. :)

7 year old twins, wow. Congratulations and I can only imagine all the hard work involved with them alone.

I'll ask you what I ask everyone here. What are your goals and how do you see yourself accomplishing them? if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Hi Gator. Thanks for the warm welcome.

My goals...

Well, I suppose a bit of my background would help explain my goals. In addition to weighing 266lbs, I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) which causes many different health issues and can lead to diabetes. My hemoglobin A1C is at 6%, which means I am not a diabetic, but continuing this way will surely lead to me being so.

So, my goals are to get down to a healthy weight— but do it in reasonable increments, not to overwhelm myself (which is something I often do) My first goal is to reach 200lbs. I would like to eliminate the greater potential for being a diabetic. I want to be more active— pick up an exercise routine that I can commit to so I can be more active with my children. I want to lower my cholestrol so I can prevent heart disease. I want to feel and look healthy.

Ultimately I would like to reach a goal of 140lbs. I want to be smart and realistic about it all. I don't want to fail this time and I don't want to go another year of my life being fat and miserable.

Goals we set are goals we get. Everything else is just a dream or a fantasy and not something we, as people; ever really make a point to achieve.

The above is my goals, not my dreams. :)

BTW, I love your little ticker. I will have to look into getting myself one of those.;)

Welcome to the forum, kunoichi! You seem really sincere in your little intro. I'm new too, so I thought I'd start off getting to know people around these parts, just saying Hi.

I know how you feel about the whole diabetes thing. My doctor warns me about that all the time. If it's not about diabetes it's something else. 'You know, it would all be a lot better if you just dropped some weight...' Argh, a girl can get sick of hearing that!

It's great that you've gotten motivated to get involved in a healthier lifestyle. I've come to find that there's nothing more important than your health and the self perception that comes from that, plus kids can be such great motivators!! And twins?! Yikes.

I should just fall down at your feet and worship now. I don't know if I can handle one child, let alone two at once! I've never been the warm and cuddly, kids love me type. I definitely admire that.

I'm sure you're going to do great, keep up the positivity and best of luck!
