Hello, My Name's Nick

I suppose the title covers the introduction. I'm 21 years old, 6'1'' tall, and weigh about 250lbs (the last time i checked). I feel like i've gained a lot of weight in the past year. About 2 years ago i was at about 220, not great but better than what i'm at now. It consumes my thought. I think about it a lot throughout the day. I'm a college student and i walk to and from campus everyday which can add up to about 30-40 minutes of walking per day when i go to class. But now class is over so i won't even be walking that much until january.

There is a rec center where i can work out on campus about a 30 minute walk from where i live, 1 way. That usually feels really far away and keeps me from working out. I suppose i could jog, but i've never been a big fan of running outside where there's a bunch of people to make me feel paranoid.

I don't know how many calories i consume on the average day. I often eat on campus where calorie information isn't readily available. I don't have a car so i don't go grocery shopping. Any suggestions on how to better maintain my diet given my sources of food would be great.

Anyways, thought i'd just introduce myself and tell you guys about my situation. I hope to make some friends and get some good advice. I'm ready to make this shit work, yo. :sifone: (haha, he's smokin' a joint)

Nick,

The lack of exercise facilities is never a good excuse for not exercising. If you don't feel comfortable jogging in public, brisk walking is perfectly fine exercise. If you don't want to go outside at all, then you could walk up and down the stairs or just do calisthenics in your room. In the late 1950's the Canadian RAF came up with an exercise routine called 5bx (5 basic exercises) for pilots without access to a gym. It works just as well now as it did in the sixties. Google 5bx.

If you have access to the internet, and what college student doesn't, then you can look up the nutrition data for your cafeteria food online. I would suggest this site:
