Hello From the Newbie! Any tips?!

Hey All!

My name is Brittney and I am a computer technician from California! I am about 76 pounds from my goal weight (according to my BMI calculations) and I am hoping that this support group will be able to help me stay motivated to work towards that goal! I am currently involved in a competition with 2 other people to see who can become the most fit/loose the most weight this summer before Aug 1st! It will be interesting! Anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and meet everyone! So, do you guys have any tips for a newbie!?
 
Welcome Brittney and congratulations on making the commitment to change your life!! I think the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to not expect yourself to be perfect. You will have days when you don't feel like exercising and days when you just have to have that piece of cake - but that's okay, that's being human. Don't stress out about it or feel like it's the end of the world - just try to be better the next day.

Start small and make positive changes - exercise for 10 minutes, then 20 or start to swap out white bread for whole wheat. Think of this more as a lifestyle change rather than a diet. Shift the focus off losing weight specifically, but working towards a stronger, healthier you and you'll be more likely to keep it off in the long run.
