Hi everyone,
I am 51 and have to stop saying, " I don't know how I got this way". It came on gradually in my 40's and I stuck my head in the sand. My doctor wrote, "obese" on my chart  I went home and looked in the mirror and saw it. The experts are right, "denial" is a river in Egypt. Lost 6lbs walking my two labs and jump starting on the Special K weightloss challenge but I know eating cereal is not going to work long term.

I need encouragement! 50 lbs seems impossible.

thanks

Hello and welcome! 50 pounds is VERY doable... Just take it one pound at a time. There is actually another newbie around your age that just joined this week. Her user name is noparsnips.Maybe you should introduce yourself. Welcome! :D

Hello and welcome to the forum! :waving:

50 lbs certainly sounds possible, and you made a good start with the walking. I agree, eating cereal won't work long term, but you made an effort, and hey, 6 lbs is great for starters! :)

Have a look around in the forum, especially the stickies about nutrition, they will give you a good idea what you can do to lose weight long term, and if you've got any questions, there are piles of friendly and helpful people around here to ask as well! :)

50? 50 is easy! ive done triple that! and others more!

You can do it! read up some of the sticky threads that give you ideas on the how?

Hey, Karlene!! Great to meet you! I'm in my mid-fifties (and hate it!) and have over seventy pounds to lose. Like you, I've been walking, which has a double impact -- it's exercise, and it gets me out of the house and away from the kitchen.

How about we help each other along, somehow? :)

Thanks for the encouragement! 50 lbs seems like a mountain to climb especially since my dear hubby has no desire to empty the kitchen of all the junk. I'll look around and see if I can find a "simple" plan that keeps me on track. A chef would do  ...lol

noparsnips, it would be great if we could buddy up somehow. I don't mind being in my 50's but I want to be there smoke'n hot instead of looking older then I am. Losing weight will help a bunch. My 4 year old granddaughter said I was "soft" Time for a big change.
