Hello from Maryland

As the title says I am from the good ol state of Maryland. First and foremost my name is Sean and I am 17 years old. I have always considered myself to be a pretty healthy person from the way I looked physically. I am 6'2 and weighed around 179 January 17th. I knew I wasn't in the best of shape of my life and I was a huge couch potato. I did the typical stuff teenagers did. My daily grind consisted of sitting around and playing video games all day. I thought I was fine physically till one day as I was driving and I managed to pass out. Luckily I didn't hit anyone, I just managed to hit a guard rail (thank god it was there) When that happened I had to go to many Doctors and no one could find out anything wrong with me. The only thing they found was that I was slightly dehydrated and that I had a slight bundle block in one of my arteries but they said it was ok and its nothing to worry about(I didn't really believe them and it scared me but I went to one of the best cardiologist on the east coast)

Since then I would say I have changed my lifestyle drastically(Still needs a heck of a lot more improvement). I try to get 8 hours of sleep a night, cut out the video games and started to become more active. Since my last Doctor visit over my passing out issue my weight has gone from 179 to what I believe is a healthier 162lbs. I credit a lot of it to me being enrolled in strength training at my school. I have also changed the way I ate drastically. Before I was eating fast food and all fatty foods. I was drinking soda like crazy and I was lucky if I was eating one vegetable or fruit a day before my accident. I am not really sure how many calories of food I am taking in now but I know for a fact I am eating a lot more healthier then I was. I really need to sit down and make a strict diet though.

The main reason I have tried to turn my health around is being 17 and passing out while driving to me just didn't seem like something that there wasn't a problem behind. I credit the accident to me not maintaining my own up keep on myself. I have learned some new work outs to do in strength training but I have come here to see what works for other people in a similar situation.

Since starting strength training my goal was to lose a good portion of my body fat and then to try and bulk up. I have no idea what my body fat is. I really have no idea about all of this working out stuff. I would like to see me get to 170 with the help of weight lifting and a health diet. I want to put on some more weight just in a healthy way because I am enlisting in the Navy. I want to be able to go to boot camp and be in the best shape of my life. I know I have jumped around so much in this post. If anyone has any questions or can point on some guides for noobs then I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
