Hello from Here We Go Again!

Hello all,

In 1991, for various reasons, I dropped from a size 48 to a size 36. It took 10 months. In 1993 my wife died. By 1995 I was back up to size 44. Now, at age 67. I am working to get back to size 36. I have been at it--with sincere dedication--for 10 consecutive days. I am no where near where I used to be. How much harder will it be this time? I am allocating the same ten months, and look forward to that size 36 by my October birthday.

Your age alone will make little difference. Recovery will be slower, you willl be out of practice etc. but age itself is purely a number and your opinion of it will often be its main effect. There are some incredibly fit people at least your age.
There is a but coming and it's a big one.
But anything that has happened or not happened during that time will have a massive impact. Injuries or illnesses you have sustained, health issues that have arisen added to the slower recovery that comes with age will make a huge difference to your speed of progress and ability to train.
For you my name should be CrazyWipperSnapper but one thing training the years I have has taught me is not to rush. I will be training the rest of my life so there is not a lot of point desperately trying to acheive a lifetime in a year. The more you think this way ironically the faster you improve.
Most important thing I say a lot is enjoy it, that way if you do it in 10 months great, if it takes 2 years or even 5 you'll still have enjoyed it.

Thanks for the excellent advice.

My goal should not be ten months to weight loss, it should be ten months plus ten months plus ten years of living intelligently.
