Hello from Alabama...

Hello and thanks for the opportunity to be a part of this forum...

Im going to start off by being brutally honest. I am 28 years old and weigh about 245. I broke my back in the Army and gained a lot of weight. I have never lost it. That was 8 years ago. In the past I got back down to around 219 but that only lasted for a few weeks. I have started thousands of diets and when I restrict my calories I binge eat like a starving man. My biggest problems are lack of sleep, eating late and little to no exercise. When I do start working out, it only lasts for a few days. It is hard for me to stay motivated, eat healthy or exercise regularly.

Im tired. I am tired of weighing so much. I have never really talked about it to anyone outside of close friends and a few family members. Im thinking that if I reach out to people on a forum, I will feel like I am being held accountable for my actions. I am open to any and all suggestions. I look forward to progress and being a part of this forum.

Im approaching this as a total beginner...so, where is a good place to start?

*To any and all that help...Thanks for your time and patience.*

Hey. The hardest part about losing weight is understanding that it is not a diet or a fad ... it has to be a lifestyle change, which is why it is so hard. Habits, of any kind, are always hard to break.

Do you have any old army buddies that you get to work out with you? Try to find a partner to hit the gym with.

As for food, do you generally just overeat or do you just eat a lot of junk? If it's the later .. stop buying it :) If it's not in the house, you can't be tempted. Don't go shopping when hungry.
