Hello everyone,
My name is Jack, I'm 24 years old, I currently live in a large city in England and I've worked in the Security Industry for about 4 years. Not sure where to start my story yet I guess I'll begin where I am now. I've been a security guard for the past 4 years working 12 hour shifts on a rota of six on, three off all of which are nights (1800-0600) usually spending my days off with my two Yorkshire terriers and my girlfriend who I love dearly. I do not drink and I do not smoke yet I have a huge gaming addiction to a well known game which I refuse to mention to avoid ridicule, as well as a fast food problem, I wouldn't say addiction as the only reason I eat fast food is due to the convenience. Currently I would grade myself as severely overweight, as of a few days ago I was 18 stone (252 pounds) which is an absurd change to what I was 6 years ago when I would say I was at my peak of 13 stone (182 pounds).
As stated about 6 years ago I was extremely fit and enjoyed a really active lifestyle playing Rugby every week maybe three times a week at times and eating whatever I wanted without little care of the consequences. During this time I fell victim to a Rugby related injury in where I broke my collar bone which removed me from the sport for about 8 months as well causing physiological implications in regards to wanting to return to the sport I had previously loved. I placed blame for my injury due to how small I was, weighing 13 stone (182 pounds) as opposed to the opposition who could weigh as much as 25 stone (350 pounds) I decided to put on some more bulk and increase my weight. During this time my addiction to on-line games arose and I would play them obsessively for hours, whenever I wasn't working or studying.
After I graduated from college and started University I began to lose the time in which to play Rugby each week more so as I had to move away from my home and my local team, at this time I was working for a local security company as well as studying. I was away for a year and did not play Rugby whilst at University and started to notice my fitness drop suddenly. After I graduated from University I would say I was roughly 15 stone (210 pounds), I returned home and to my local Rugby team as well as started to work full time.
In the past due to my heavy working hours I found myself eating frozen meals and a lot of diet pepsi which I changed a few months back from red coke after being shocked at its sugar content and as I work nights I am unwilling to really get up and go and the thought of exercise is enough to make me sweat, I rarely take part in Rugby yet if I do this is for half a game where I am totally exhausted.
I truly wish to join the Police as soon as possible, yet recruitment for this occupation is very limited in England and I know if the opportunity arrived I just would not be fit enough.
Thanks to my girlfriend I now eat a lot better, not perfect but better (home made stuff now!) and walk our dogs religiously every morning when I get home from work, this usually takes about 10 mins at max which I am willing to increase, I would love to be able to run with them yet fear I would cause an injury to myself due to my size. We have just received great news that we have been successful in purchasing our own home so I want to move into there with all my bad habits removed and start a new path in our lives, a path that's healthier and more active.
So there's me, hope you enjoyed the read I would love to see what these forums have to offer for myself and my girlfriend.
