Hey people, I'm new to the forums, and I thought I'd say hi.
I'm a six foot six Dutch guy who needs to lose about 90 pounds of weight.
About two years ago, I decided to stop smoking. Stopping smoking went well, but without realizing it, I substituted quite a few cigarettes with feel good food. Ice cream, pudding, cookies, fast food, you name it, I ate it. Needless to say, I gained a lot of weight as a result. Now, I think it's a fair trade - smoking is a bad addiction to have - but the time has come to shed all those excess pounds again.
For the past few months I've been slowly building up a regular exercise regimen, and a month ago, I started counting calories as well. A friend of mine recommended it to me, and ever since I've been doing my best at keeping just under my goal of 2264 calories per day. It's hard from time to time, but since exercise gives me extra calories to eat, it's a good motivator to keep exercising as well, and it's quite doable. Some days I'll go over, but I balance out those days by being under at other days. The hardest times are the times between dinner and bedtime - at around ten PM, I usually get urges to eat something, and fruit doesn't always do it. It's really surprising how similar those feelings are to the feelings I had when I was quitting smoking, it makes me think that I was (or am) actually addicted to eating.
Well, I think that's all I have to say for now. Feel free to ask anything you wanna know, and share any tips you might have.
