Hi there,

I'm a 33 year old Physical therapist from New Zealand. I've tried pretty much all of the diets over the years, calorie counted and cut out food groups. I started to get obsessed with food and was way too anxious about what I ate to the point that it was really affecting my life. I turned into a yo-yo diet and weight fluctuator which I hated!

My new method of choice is intermittent fasting which I discovered through one of my patients who used it to lose weight because they were unable to exercise. I started trying it too and was really happy with the fact that after I lost weight I didn't seem to put it on again.

To my amazement it actually stopped my 'food anxiety' and obsession with food too.

Has anyone else tried intermittent fasting?

Hi welcome to the WLF!

I don't care for fasting; I tried it when I was younger, I got the ideal from a herb book. Although, they used to fast in the Earlier Church Days. I don't think it is a healthy way to diet. I lose very slowly on WW points, but I eat healthy food and it keeps me satisfied. Your Body Needs Food for Fuel!!

Good luck to you!

I am sure the fasting works, but I am quite skeptical about the sustainability of the technique in the long run. Additionally I am quite apprehensive of what it might do to your system in the future. The scary thing is that, when you are younger you are able to put your body through a lot without feeling any adverse effects. After 40 or so, the effects start to show up...

I think you can start off your journey to fitness with the technique for a few weeks, but get back to a normal moderate and healthy diet and burn the calories with exercise. At the end of the day there is no easy way out to becoming a fit person for life.
