I am a 49 year old Grandma. Up until this year, I always considered myself "healthy". I had a great job, that I loved and a wonderful family....little did I know that my family history had cursed me with High Blood Pressure. They call it the "Silent Killer" for a good reason. In February, I found myself in the hospital, suffering from a TIA or a Mini Stroke! As I lay there, all I could think about was my Son, Daughter and 2 year old Grandson. I hadn't done half of the things I had planned to do with them or with my life! The recovery has been long, but I am pleased to say that I feel much better.
I have changed a lot about my life since that day. I no longer consume Diet Cokes (the #1 cause of high blood pressure & strokes is the artificial sweetener). I have changed the way I eat. I am trying my best to incorporate some Vegetarian meals into my menu. But with a "Meat and Potatoes" man sitting at my dinner table, that is proving to be difficult. And I began going to Weight Watchers. I live on a small island off the coast of NC and as of Thursday August 30th, they are taking our meetings away from us. Sad, but true. Our group is just too small. I am looking to meet new friends here & find some hope. I am currently 185 and my doctor wants me at 140......
