Hello, everyone!

I'm Catie. I'm 19, 20 at the end of July. I've been overweight since I was about... 9? Maybe. It fluctuates just how much, but I'm certainly much more comfortable with myself than I have been before.
However, I think it is time I buck up and get serious about reaching a healthier weight. Unfortunately, I find myself in a bit of a predicament.

I am 5'8", and weigh 245 lbs. Obviously, this is significantly overweight, obese. The only thing is, I know for a fact that I look like I weigh much less. Anyone I ask (this includes the doctor, before I get weighed) guesses around 170-180. So I don't really think that I'll get down to say, 125.

Should I just sort of... Go, without a distinct goal? Should I try to get down to a certain pants size?

Thank you, and I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Hi Catie and welcome.

Well, you have age on your side. Your metabolism is still going. :)

I would set specific goals. A 500 calorie deficit per day (combined diet changes and exercise) will produce a 1 lb per week weight loss.

There are some sticky notes here in the front of this section that ask some good questions when posting. You might read and try to answer those, here or in a diary.

Good luck.
