Hello Everyone.....New Member Here

I expect a lot of help n support from you guys....
Cool- best way to get this is to give it out too :)

So what are your credentials, then? Do you have a specific amount of weight you'd like to lose, a target to reach?

Hi everyone! I have just joined as a member today, so thought I would drop a few lines to introduce myself :) I have been a serial dieter my entire adult life (I'm now 33) and I'm so sick of dieting, the struggle and the mental effort involved that at times has been all consuming for me. I have been a New Zealand size 8 up to a size 16 and back again and current back down to a size 12 and I know I need to start on the healthy path again as I'm really unhappy about the way I look. Unfortunately, even at my smallest I felt large, though when I look back on photos I just think shit! what an idiot!! I have three children and I just had the last baby 7 weeks ago so I feel like probably what most women feel: fat, frumpy, totally self-conscious about the state of my spongy stomach ....the list just goes on. I have totally avoided the scales but I really need to address my excess weight. Does anyone have any tips on getting started?

Start with a food journal and record what you eat for a week. After that, you can look and make changes to reduce your calorie intake.

Welcome to the forums!

Heya Natty, i see another NZr :)

The best diets are the ones that are not painful to do, generally you find they disappear after a couple of weeks because the pain outweighs the pleasure. Ideally you want to do something that works with your schedule and daily routine already.
I found switching foods worked nicely, just removing fattier versions of foods with healthier ones (ie taking skin off chicken, switch butter for low fat marg etc). Also making sure the portion size was a heap smaller.
Take one step at a time, try changing the diet and getting that sorted slowly, then look at exercise if/when you have that. Big drastic changes don't generally work in the long term :)

As Jericho said, start up a diary so people can make friends, comment, and keep a log of what you eat!
