Hello Everybody!

Hi everyone! I've been lurking around for a few weeks and thought it was time that I introduced myself. I'm 5'9" and have been ~210 lbs. for the past 6 years. I've always been at least a little overweight. However, I've finally determined that I'm going to get fit! A few weeks ago I joined a gym and got some personal training sessions. I absolutely love it! I feel healthier than I have in years. It's horribly expensive, but I figure my health is something worth blowing a paycheck on. As far as diet, I'm just trying to eat balanced, smaller meals. I've always loved fruits and veggies (brussels sprouts are a favorite) so it hasn't been that big of a change. I've mostly just been watching portion sizes. From what I've calculated, it comes to about 1500 cals a day. This forum has done wonders in keeping me motivated. I just want to thank everyone for sharing their stories. It really helps me out!

Hey

Hi, I just started on this site today also. I have been losing weight only over the past week after having a baby five months ago. Great job so far :) I have been thinking about a personal trainer too. How often do you work with one?

Thanks! I'm working with mine 3 times a week. After about a month, I plan on seeing him 1-2 times a week. It's a great way to get a workout that specifically helps with whatever you need. For example, I can lift weights like a pro (I used to throw discus and shotput) but I have absolutely no cardiovascular endurance. He's shown me some great exercises that I never would have thought of by myself. It's also a great way to stay accountable and motivated. Good luck!

I do work out on non-trainer days, but it's mostly cardio stuff like swimming or running. He also gives nutrition advice, but I don't really use it much because after an initial consultation he agreed I had a pretty good diet already established. It probably also depends on which trainer you have. Just ask before you buy about what's included and then there will be no surprises. All I can say is that it's probably the best thing I could have done for myself.

Hi! :) Welcome to the forum. :) This is a great help to keeping going with weight loss goals. You must be looking forward to hitting 200 lbs soon! I am too, though it will be 2-3 weeks yet. Are you going to start a diary?
