Hello - Could do with some new friends :-)

Hi
My name is Vanessa, i am a 42 yr old mum of 4 very lively children (5 if you include my hubby!) I have been struggling with severe obesity for years. I am smaller now than i was in 2007 by about 5-6 stone but i still have 100lb to loose! I can now walk again and i am much more mobile than i was before i lost the weight.
My diet is pretty good now and since May of this year i have been able to exercise. I go to the gym 3 times a week now but i am concerned that my trainer is pushing me too hard.
I am definitely fitter than i was a few months ago but i am not loosing any weight, in fact i seem to be putting a few lbs on. It is so frustrating!
My trainer tells me that muscle is heavier than fat but i do not want to end up as 300lb of muscle!
Is there anyone who can help to advise me about balancing my diet while i am exercising?
I really would like to see the scales start to go down.
Thanks

Hello and welcome!!

I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you, I'm sure someone will be along who is knowledgable to help you but I just wanted to say congrats to you for your hard work!

It's definitely hard work but so worth it itsn't it?! :)
Congrats on your weight loss so far!
Keep us all updated!!

What are you favorite things to do for exercise? What's your diet like? :)

Thanks for the welcome.
Well i am fairly new to exercise and only used the treadmill and elliptical but recently i have started weight training which i prefer by far. Diet wise, well i cook most things from scratch , healthy home cooked food -very important for my children that we have a healthy diet. I just want to know if there is a special diet for me to help when i am exercising. I get very hungry the day after i have been to the gym - i have recently started using protein shakes after the gym but i am just putting on lbs not loosing the lbs.
Its very frustrating

Protein is definitely a great thing to be taking in throughout your whole day especially with working out and weight training. I try to eat a little protein with every meal whether it's a hard boiled egg, tuna or some sliced turkey or cheese.

You mentioned you are more mobile now after losing the weight, have you noticed your clothes fitting looser? Your trainer may be right that you are losing fat and gaining muscle.
I would watch/count your calories to make sure you're not going over how many you should be having a day. That will help tell you whether you're gaining fat or muscle.

I suspect you're gaining muscle if you've been working with a trainer but it's hard to know for sure.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Just look around and read some of the threads and stickys. There's a lot of information and support here.
Sounds like it might be time to re-evaluate your diet. Start by keeping a food log so you'll be able to see how much your eating.
You've done a great job so far.

you wont be 300lbs of muscle unless your juicing lol.. muscle burns fat the more muscle u ave the more fat you will burn trainers are supposed to push you hard if you don't push hard its worthless.. keep at it whats your diet like? diet is number 1 working out is number 2.. i see u make things from scratch but if your portion sizes are to big u can have to much of a good thing if you use allot of gravy or condiments it doesn't matter how good the food u cook is..
