Thought it's about time to introduce myself after joining the site. My name Matt aged 23, currently a student of IT and have a couple of part time jobs. I have always been overweight/obese. It all began around year 2 in primary school. A few years after that I remember weighing myself in year 8 and being 17 stone :( .

Many moons on and to cut a long story short, at the age of 21, just had a hernia operation, after the 3 month wait to heal. I joined the gym at my work place and began getting on the treadmill and started running. As the weeks progress I managed 1 mile of jogging then 2 the hit my first target of 3 miles.

I kept this up for 3 months and going to the gym 20 times a month. Within that time I went down from 19 stone to 17 and had build some muscle up too. At this point was the best I felt about myself and the best shape I'v ever been.

After the 3 months I had left that work place and it was Christmas, I did join a local gym but never did as much. I started back at University as well. Every got put on the back burner and the weight came back on.

Come forward 10 months, I'm back at the gym 4 times a week, currently weight 19 stone. Lucky have kept my fitness as I still can just about jog 3 miles.

Lots of bits have been cut out like slimming world and using Thermobol, that is for another time. Hope to speak to some of you. Will hopefully be posting process pictures up soon as well.

Matt

Hey Matt, welcome!

Have you looked around at some of the sticky threads? They are at the top of some of the forum sections and they contain lots of useful information to get you going. Also, starting a weight loss diary is a great tool for keeping you accountable and allowing other forum members to offer support and advice.

Can't wait to see your progress!

Thank you for your reply plbfitness. I will look into a diary, but I think the main thing is I snack alot so I will try and cut that down.

You might be interested in looking at the weight loss diaries here: http://weight-loss.fitness.com/f/9/weight-loss-diary. Having to write down what you're eating can often deter you from having that extra snack, especially if you know that others are going to see it :)
