Hello,
So I guess this is where I introduce myself to everyone...
My name is Jim and I'm 24 years old. Ive been active in sports pretty much all my life and still do when I have the time. I joined the forum to get advice, find some motivation, and maybe discover some things about weight loss that I didnt know before.

Ive always had a moderate battle with weight. When I was still in school practice and conditioning for the various sports I played gave me a build that hides weight well, but I still have quite a bit to lose. Before I had never been one to go by the weight number but I'm guessing Im in the 340 range since Ive been about the same size since the last time I was weighed. Im 6'5" and like I said, my build helps hide the weight well since when I asked my doctor what he thought I weighed just by looking at me and he thought I was in the 275 range! This has been a burden more than a blessing however because when I look in the mirror, or have other people judge my overall weight "appearance" it usually dont send up any red flags (And believe me, the other people Im talking about would be painfully honest if they thought I looked like I needed to be told)

Basically what I want to do is get down to maybe 275ish by summer, thats averaging something like 2 pounds a week which between my current weight and goal weight is totally doable (I think so anyway). After that Ill lower my expectations to around 1 pound a week until I hit my final goal at 260.

I know that setting goals that long term and precise can hinder your motivation in the middle of the run but Im that type of person, I like to see a distant goal approach slowly but surely because it keeps me consistent.

So drop me a line if you have any beginners advice! Thanks!

The only advice I have is pretty much what I tell everyone. Don't get carried away and don't try and do much too much too quickly.

Gradual changes are easier to maintain (food and exercise)
