hello im new to this chatting thing so i geuss here it goes. im in my late teens and i wouldn't say im overwieght yet but i fear im headed there. my doctor told me that i should begin to lose wieght and this is about the second time shes told me and well id liketo start. im 5'4" and i weigh 145 pounds which doesn't seem like too much to me but i geus cuz of my hieght n stuff its more. i wold say i am very active though i am always busy i play alot of sportds and maybe some of my wieght is muscle because of that but i dont know. i think my main problems is i workout for an hour and a half everyday but then i go and binge on a lot of food like 15 minutes later. i mena i run and lift wieghts and i mean im pretty good but my wieght doesn't reflect it. maybe some of its from stress too but id like to lose between ten and twenty pounds and stop over eating after i exercise. this isn't the first time ive had problems with my wieght before i did have bit of an eating disorder too so i really need to get healthier
 
Sounds likeyou're most of the way there already - a few little changes to your lifestyle and eating habits now will result in big changes over time.

I don't see why a doctor would tell you to start to lose weight when you are only 145lbs. If you are an athlete then 145 is very acceptable and quite healthy. I was an athlete in my teens and I was 143lbs. It was quite slim for me. You don't have to be pencil thin to be healthy. But yes, eating healthier is deifinitely the way to go since you are already exercising and 10-20lbs is reasonable. This is defnitely the place to go for motivation. I am addicted! Goold luck!!

I'm Taneisha I just joined this Board too. You're 5'4 and 145lbs I wish I was that weight...I'm 180lbs and I'm one inch shorter than you are 5'3 I've been trying to stop overeating but my Period has been Awald for a long time now since September 29th of 2006 and its almost 2007 I keep wanting to go to the doctor to see what is up with me but I'm afraid but Welcome to Weight Loss Forum.
 
Change your relationship

Stop looking at food as "bad" or as something you want to eat but shouldn't. Change your mindset so you can consider what you NEED to eat, instead of what you SHOULDN'T. For example, Breakfast. I need some protein, small amount of fat, and some complex carbs... how about a half a cup of plain oatmeal, with a half a scoop of protein powder, and add some fruit to it? Lunch: Need some fruits and/or veggies and protein. Okay a chicken breast salad with lo fat or no dressing. You NEED food to lose weight. Pick the most natural , unprocessed foods you can and you'll be able to eat a lot MORE and still lose a lot MORE weight!
