Hello all

I just joined last week. I've never been a member of a forum before now so I'm new to this.

I'm 49 and have gone from 217 down to 187 (even made it as low as 177 last September)

I had a heart attack in 2000 at the age of 43 and it's been a struggle ever since to get better. My right coronary artery became 100% blocked and they tried to unplug it and put in a stint but the blockage was at the "Y" so they couldn't. Fortunately for me though I had new "colateral" arteries growing so they decided to treat me with medications and wait for the veins to become big enough to supply enough blood to the right side of my heart. It has been a log hard road to feeling better for me.

I am a very active person, ex military and have always had the philosophy that I can sleep when I'm dead so this has been even more frustrating for me.

So as of last July I have gotten much better, lost weight and actually feel as though I'm living every day of my life as though I never had the heart attack rather than the other way around!

I wish you all the best of luck and If I can be of any help, just ask.

-Bill

Hello and welcome to the forum. Congrats on your recent weightloss and more importantly...surviving a heart attack!:D My dad had quadruple bypass this past September- his worst artery was about 99% blocked:eek: The others were not far behind. His diet was not that bad, but it runs in the family and has a high stress job, so he is at higher risk. Good luck finding that healthier you!

Thanks!
Sorry to hear about your dad. I hope he makes a speedy, complete recovery. How is he now?

I also didn't have a bad diet. My cholesterol is hereitarily high. I never even put salad dressing on my salads (my family pokes fun at me for being a rabbit)and always eat lean meats and stay away from fried foods and I still had a heart attack at 43!

So now I'm lots better, I run 3.5 miles every day and weight train 3 to 4 days a week.

Thanks and have a great week!
