Hello all, another newbie here lol

Hello, my names , I'm 25 and have joined this site because I like the idea of being around others going thru the same ups and downs during weight loss, share experiences and somewhere to turn to with any questions basically. A little about myself, I weighed in at 240lb last year around September. I started to go the gym 3 times a week but wasn't as devoted shall we say as I am now. My diet was everywhere, eating late, skipping meals (not to loose weight just never ever had breakfasts and most days wouldnt have dinner because either wasnt hungry or the time wasnt there) a few takeouts I have to say, and so on. Before Christmas I weighed myself and was 227lb.

Christmas happened, got new year out of the way and decided this is my year. I work towards a goal better if it's a challenge. Makes it something to work for for me and more enjoyable. Told myself 110 days, no takeouts, gym everyday, no caffeine, no mayo, anything bad for me tbh. And have to say its going quite well. I'm really enjoying it. My eating habits have improved tremendously and even look forward to breakfasts now more so than any meal. Breakfast is my biggest meal of the day.

I started officially on 5th January weighing in at 229.2lb

An average day for me is breakfast: 2 rounds of seeded whole meal with margarine, 2 rounds of seeded whole meal with nuttella, and a bowl of porrage. 4 hours later for lunch I have a tin of tuna with some sweetcorn. Then 3 hours later a banana. Which will last me till I finish work, which for tea (half 5) depends of what I'm doing at the gym, will either have some chicken, or fish and mushy peas, bowl of veg, or a shake at the gym. Something like that tbh.

Gym wise monday to friday (half 6) I'm there about 1 half / 2 hours, good cardio and weights. But mainly more cardio. Which then when I wake up in the morning I can't wait for my breakfast and the cycle starts again. Saturday and Sunday I go play squash, badminton, tennis. It'll be one of those a day over weekend depending of what my mates fancy that day.

I have noticed a lot of weight loss, was around 2lb a day. Was wondering if that's good or too much to fast :/. I am very keen to complete this personal challenge of 110 days. I'm feeling great, and can get into a pair of jeans I couldn't before but it's only been a few days. I'm on day 102 days to go. Not sure if this is to much to fast :/.

5th Jan 229.2
13th Jan 219.0

Any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated, but hello to all and hope everyone is doing well :)

Addition: probably should mention I'm taking omega 3 fish oil, garlic, iron and vitamin c, and vitamin E suppliments with breakfast also

I'm really proud of your persistence You seem very determined and much more devoted to loosing weight that I am. I have to say I'm really jealous. And I agree with you... the idea of being around people going through the same weight issues; ups and downs; and so fourth.

To answer your question. 2 pounds a day at your weight is normal. You at your weight will loose weight much more faster at first because your getting rid of all the "easy fat" I'm no nutritionist nor a scholar but to back up what I said, but if you look online, there are hundreds of over weight people who start of loosing more than a pound a day when they start off. It gets harder however when you get thinner, ironically, and unfortunately.

I was about 14 or 15 when I weighed 200 pounds. I decided enough was enough. And I took a sports conditioning class after school, and stopped eating pizza for lunch, and a couple other things (nothing really significant) and lost 20 pounds in a month. The weight was melting off so fast, it was really motivating, sometimes I'd loose 10 pounds in one week. It started getting harder once I hit the 170 lbs range, and I had to be more diligent with my diet and exercise. I hit a plateau and was 170 pounds for a couple of months, then over the course of maybe 5 months i got down to 150.

Also keep in mind i was around 14 and 15 years old at the time...so being younger helps.

Anyway welcome! :)

However, I'm jealous of your discipline. I have gained all my weight back and im around 185 from 150 lbs. I gained back my weight when I was discharged from a mental hospital. I was put on heavy medication, which slowed me down, made me more depressed, hungry, tired, apathetic, i wasn't feeling like myself, and put on pounds. It's depressing to deal with, I used to be very attractive, and now I'm over weight, tho I don't look fat, I'm just ample. Maybe it was karma lol.

All the vitamins your taking with breakfast will work. When I lost 50 pounds (prior to gaining it back), that's what helped me tremendously.

Hiya mate, sounds rough. How old are you now if you don't mind me asking. Thanks for you feedback :). My problem was the irratic eating patterns. Far to many take outs lol. Worked out over these 4 months I'm saving £250 not having them haha. So having the money each month debited into a savings account so hopefully come the end of this 4 months I should be a lot fitter and have a little spending spree as a treat. Old habits die hard tho, it's the rule of 20 days I'm told. Go without something for 20 days and you now longer need it.

Don't know if it helps but Im doing this, well for obvious reasons, but also for this one day I've never had. Sounds really stupid lol. When it's summer and hot. We have an outdoor swimming pool. It is amazing, people go just to sunbathe there. Not to mention plenty of women lol. And we go for a day or two with mates and have a laugh and for those 2 hours it feels like we're on holiday. And I do have fun and a laugh, but being fat kinda makes it, well not 100% enjoyable. Always on guard and self conscious ect. Sounds daft but I can't wait for that day this year all go well. Something to look farward to even if it is just 2 hours lol.

What would you like to get down too mate

Well I'm 17 years old, but that doesn't take away the fact that I don't understand or withhold empathy. It just gives me the privilege of loosing weight a bit faster and easier. Feeling confident near a pool when your fat or overweight is almost impossible most of the time, and if you don't mind, usually means you don't give a darn. Course being thin, skinny, and healthy won't always ensure you pure and genuine confidence, but it helps.

Today I just bought a scale. I estimated that I gained about 40 or 30 pounds from my previous weight of 150 pounds, but turns out when I officially weighed myself I'm 199 :( !! So I'm extremely motivated by this nasty number to loose weight. I would like to be down at my normal weight at 150... and if I'm feeling super perhaps 140 pounds.

My eating was always erratic too, sometimes it felt as though it was out of my control, and nothing could cure it. But it just takes a shift in the way you think and some sacrifice.

Yea totally agree with you, struggled with weight loss most of my life. Then on day this year it was like a switch in my head turned and all the motivation was there. I'm glad you've got your motivation back mate :). Have you got a plan of a attack.

Could do with some advice, my weight has suddenly stalled and is now going up. Diet hasn't changed. And gym routine is constantly changing to my muscles from getting used to a certain machine and to keep it interesting. I don't work on a machine for set times but to a time to keep my heart rate up to get away from the problem of say running for 30 mins, as I get fitter the 30 min workout on that machine isn't giving me as much benefit as at the beginning when I was less fit if you get me. So can't understand why something was working has suddenly stopped and gaining weight :/ Confussed lol
