If you are willing to count calories, that's what's working for me. The nice thing is that I can really eat anything, so long as I have the calories for it (WW is similar, if I remember right). Moderation is the key. The one and only way to lose weight is to eat fewer calories than you burn. That's it. Special diets, programs and all of those are all just ways of helping you do that. And if that's what helps some people stay on track, that's fine. But it's possible to do it on your own and it's not that hard.
In order to do it this way you need to measure or weigh your food, so you know exactly how much you are eating and track every bite you take. Also, you need to figure out your BMR (it's not hard, I can help you if you are interested) to see how many calories you typically burn a day then eat less than that. 1000 calories less a day to lose 2 pounds a week.
Once you get started, it gets easier. Starting is the hardest part, but after a few weeks when you see that number on the scale going done, it helps keep you going. Good luck!
