Heavyrope on a concrete floor?

I've thought about buying a Heavyrope for some time. I found one once in the aerobics room at school and tried it out. It was a killer workout! Only the thing that has been stopping me from buying one is my workout location. My "gym" is my garage. It has a concrete floor. It's an old garage so the floor isn't nice and smooth--it's pretty rough. I'm afraid it would damage the rope and end up spilling the sand all over from the damage caused by the floor. I also thought about getting a heavylink chain and using that instead to jump. But if I hit myself with that I might end up breaking my foot! If I went out of the garage onto the sidewalk I'm afraid the cement out there would do the same thing too. It's not like I have a smooth gym floor to use.

There's some sheets of plywood laying around the garage. Maybe I could put them down and jump rope on them. Thanks for your advice.
