Hi, Are the healthy choice frozen meals a good idea?
im only looking to have them every once in a while. can i trust that they are actually healthy?

also. when i run, i am just starting out in all this, if i run 2 shorter sessions in the morning and one at night will i get the same effect as one long session?

thanks.

I don't know about the frozen dinners. I don't like them, and don't eat them. It is okay to break your exercise up into shorter sessions.

Hmmmm. They have a catchy name..."Healthy Choice".

And the website looks impressive....detailing their meals with all the nutrition information upfront.

I would say they look to be one of the better prepared dinners on the market.

I don't think having one once in a while would hurt...but I wouldn't have one thinking my body was getting more of a benefit than a meal prepared myself.

Now....depending on where your coming from, they might be great for you. For example...if you are coming from a diet of McD's and pizza most of the time, I would suggest these prepared meals to be quite favourable for you.

But if your diet consisted of preparing your own meals, eating fresh produce, and using quality cuts of meat...then I would say they are only ok in a bind.

The good thing is that you are thinking about what you are going to be eating. And if you're like me, you'll make the best choice with the options at hand.

Good luck...and let me know if they're any good :)

Here's my opinion on pre-prepared dinners.

Taste-wise I think they SUCK. :) I hate them. Food-wise, I think probably as a once in a while, fill-in sort of thing, they're ok. I wouldn't consider them a part of a regular meal plan.

But really once you check the ingredients and the calorie levels, it's mostly a matter of personal taste. I think Healthy Choice is one of the better options on the market for pre-prepared foods. They tend to be lower in sodium, lower in preservative, lower in the "bad" things, than most pre-made packaged foods.

I just personally think that most pre-made foods taste crappy. I'd rather have a packet of tuna on a slice of whole grain bread than a pre-made meal.

But that's me! :)

Yes, I believe they are good as a "once in a while" type option, especially compared to other quick food options, like fast food.

As far as healthy goes, if you mean healthy by being part of a lower calorie diet, then definitely, but they could be more nutritious.

For an extra 90-100 calories you could have 2-3 servings of frozen veggies WITH the healthy choice meal, to make it more filling and nutritious.

I eat thme all the time because you can count your calories very easily with them and the good ones taste pretty good.

They are not bad for you just read the nutritional info on them. After reading the nutritional info you will see that they are most certinally not bad for you at all.
