Hi all,
Since my early 20's, I've struggled with my weight. I'm 5' 8" and by my mid 20's, I reached 230 lbs. In 2004, I got serious and got down to a lean 175. I vowed to NEVER get out of shape again. But as time went on, I lost my motivation and slowly accepted my weight gain. Three years ago we had our first child and I became a stay at home dad. That's when things really got bad, and here I am now at 232 lbs and get so depressed about it, I sometimes feel hopeless. I have tried several times to overcome this, and actually made progress, but for whatever reason, I would quite and regain. I feel that every time this happens, my confidence in actually getting in shape again dwindles. Last week, I'm not sure what caused it, but I'm once again motivated. For me it's not a matter of knowing what will work, it's a matter of being persistent and sticking with it. Now that we have a 3 year old son and a baby girl on the way in April, I'm not just doing this for me, but for my family as well. Having grown up with overweight parents, I do not want my kids have to them as well. I can relate to so many of your stories and know what you are going through. I'm looking forward to sharing my progress with all of you as well as exchanging motivation. So here's to 2012 and all of us reaching our goals.
