Headache after working out

im not sure, but do you get enough water while you work out? do you eat before you work out? i would guess dehyration could cause headaces..

Hard smoker.. are you a smoker?
lack of oxygen, dehydration and general exhaustion are all causes of post workout headaches or dizziness.
you might want to try
  • really focusing on breathing properly while lifting (often overlooked)
  • sipping a little water. Just enough to stay hydrated.
  • make sure you are not eating and then immediately hitting the gym.
There should be a window of 45 mins to an hour between lifting and eating.
  • List what supplements you are taking here and we might be able to link it to that.

Do you think any of these might be the culprit?

I`m not a smoker, i hit a bowl or two from time to time thats all.

*I am breathing correctly
*I drink quite alot of water during the day
*sometimes I eat before working out, maybe thats the problem
*I don`t take any supplements other than multi vitamins

could be low blood sugar, taxed central nervous system (especially if you are relatively new to weight training, and hitting them hard), being too tense while lifting.

hydration the rest of the day matters too. if you're dehydrated going into the workout, you won't be able to rehydrate adequately during the workout no matter how much water you drink.

unless you're hitting the bowl before hitting the gym, I doubt that's an issue.

it could be ur tensing your neck muscles, happens to me, infact i cant do a lot of crunches, head starts to hur

HE's RIGHT!!!!!!!!!! THIS HAPPEN TO ME TOO

WHat i started to do to fix this is start doing neck workouts.
I use the Lever and do neck presses. They clear up my headaches in a INSTANT!!!

thanks for the support, last time when I worked out (yesterday) it was all fine - i din`t eat before my session so I felt amazing after.

You should wait about an hour after eating to hit the gym.. hit the gym for an hour or so.. then eat within one hour of finishing at the gym (no tincluding post workout shake if you do that.. but you said no supps so.)

If crunches are hurting your neck , you are doing them wrong.
The neck should in NO way be involved in the act of crunching. Lock your hands tight behind your neck and let it relax. It should not be tense in any way at all. Also, be really careful with neck exercises.. One wrong move and you can really F yourself up.
IF you support your neck and breath properly, you shouldnt really get headaches from doing crunches. If you are squeezing out your last reps and the lactic acid is building up and you hold your breath to fire out the last ones.. you can get a little headache for a second, but if you are breathing there shouldn't be any problems.
