having trouble losing

I am 32 years old and had my 3rd child 1.5 years ago. Since Jan. 07 I have been doing kickboxing 3 days a week plus walking on off days. I do eat farely well most of the time but no weight is coming off. I feel more muscle than what I had before but that's it. Most everyone else in the class has lost weight as well as build muscle, but I haven't lost any. I am getting really frustrated about this and I am looking for suggestions. Thanks.

I am not sure what my calorie intake is with 3 kids and sports, carpooling, work etc. its's pretty difficult for me to take time to calculate all that.

weight loss comes from using more calories than you are taking it - it's helpful to know where you are at right now to know why you aren't losing weight.

Have you taken before and current measurementts? has there been any change there?

you might want to use a site like or to record your food intake - just to give yourself an idea of what you are currently eating

I have been measuring once a month and have lost in some areas and gained in others but overall lost a total of 3 inches. I will check out these sights also. Thanks

What do you eat?

What do you eat?
How many meals a day do you eat?
Do you follow a training program?
GIve us a bit more info

I eat breakfast, lunch and dinner with a small snack between meals. I eat salads, grilled chicken, fruit, some veggies not alot because I don't like them, lean meat. It just depends we do eat out alot but I try to get the lightest thing I can. Like I said I don't have a lot of time to prepare meals because I am so busy. What kind of training program are you referring to?Thanks

I wasn't referring to any specific program. But you said you lost in some areas while in others not. Maybe you're targeting specific muscle groups and not others

If you want solid advise you must give a solid description of that which as been asked.

Format example only

Breakfest 5am
oatmeal,banana

snack 7am
carrots

lunch 12pm
chicken,salad,rice

Total calories 1200

cardio 20minutes
bike

Weights 45 - 60minutes
squats
dips
pullups

Get the idea? Format it some what like that.

Once you do we can give you better advise.
Good Day,

I do kickboxing 3 days a week Tue., Thur., and Sat. for 1 hour each we cover every major muscle group, we use bands, weighted balls, stability balls, punching bags, and work abs. It is a very intense workout. Then on Mon. and Wed., I walk fast pace for about 30min.each day.
For breakfast 9:00 am light cheese stick and fiber one bar
snack 10:30am orange
lunch 12:30 pm small salad and chicken noodle soup
snack 3:00 pm peach
dinner 6:30 pm grilled chicken, carrots, salad
Hope that helps I don't know the calories because I haven't been counting those.

For breakfast 9:00 am light cheese stick and fiber one barI doubt that even equals a100calories. Likely around 80not sure.
snack 10:30am orange about 60calories
lunch 12:30 pm small salad and chicken noodle souplikely around 100-150calories depending on soup.
snack 3:00 pm peach depending on size about 70calories
dinner 6:30 pm grilled chicken, carrots, salad depending on size about 150calories

Hope that helps I don't know the calories because I haven't been counting those.

Much better :) Next Please list your hight and weight.

Now to focus squarly on the diet for a moment...
Your eating FAR to few calories. Read bold.

Now we add that up and we get...around 500calories...I'm shocked you aren't sick.
You are DRASTICALLY under eating. Which is EXTREMELY unhealthy for you.

You extremely low on protein, fats, hell even your carbs are to low! I don't even want to go into the possible vitamin and mineral content you likely low on! You need a major over haul here...

I had my first child nine months ago and have been working out 5 days a week and eat 1500 calories a day. I have a personal trainer and a dietician. In nine months I only lost 10lbs. I just recently found out I have hypothyroidism that was apparently induced by the pregnancy. I just started Synthroid and the doc said the weight should start coming off. Have your thyroid checked and if they say it's normal, ask what the actual level is. Normal is .49-5.0. Mine was .51 at first and the other doctor wouldn't treat me. I have a new doc and my thyroid is now much lower. If it's in the much lower range, he said that usually means you are headed for hypothyroidism. This may be the problem. Good luck!

Something similar happened to my friend after giving birth and she had a thyroid imbalance. You might want to check with the doctor.

Are you sure you're being honest with yourself about your food intake? I mean, if that's all your eating on an average day then I'm very surprised you're not losing weight.

Also, what are your portion sizes? Grilled chicken might be okay, but not if you eat too much.

Once you set yourself up a routine of sorts, it can take only minutes of your time to track your food. For example, when I cook chicken breasts, I buy in family packs (partly to save money), but I cook it all at once and divide them into zip-loc bags for the freezer. I use a kitchen scale, so each bag has exactly 4 oz of meat in them. I don't have to think about it when I grab one for supper. I know some people do this with cereal, cooked rice, etc.

If this is really important to you, then you need to make it a priority.
