have you had any negative results?

I started last July and I am nearly down 100 pounds now. Has anyone else had any negative effects from weight loss? I noticed my hair started falling out and still does ( not in clumps or anything.. just shedding). I mean, I am far from bald but my once lush, thick red hair just is not the same. I also noticed that I had excessive bruising, even if it was just a small bump. I cured the bruising with taking in more vitamin C and the hair thinning was slowed down somewhat with taking a Biotin supplement. Anyone have any idea's on why I am losing hair? I've been a serious vegetarian since February, maybe it's some vitamin I am missing? I think I am going to go back to eating lean meats..just not red meat as I have never been a huge fan of it.

So, anyways.. my question is has anyone had anything negative about dieting?

if you're recording your daily calories - i'd take a look at your protein consumption.. that might explain why your hair is falling out...

negative impact of losing weight? new clothes are expensive...

yep it's happened to me. I used to have the thickest thick hair you could imagine. But because of an eating disorder over the period of one year, i cut out most carbs and pretty much all protein. I lost a lot of weight and a lot of hair. To the point where i even had little bald patches forming. It became very thin and very stringy. And even though after recovering from the eating disorder, 4 years later my hair is still thin and stringy. And i've pretty much lost hope of ever having my thick hair back again :(
Try to include more protein in your diet, your hair will thank you! :D

Hiya,

I had a somewhat bad experience which was, unfortunately, self-induced. At one point, I went completely crazy and decided to go on a self-invented crash diet which limited me to 500/calories a day.

Let's just say some of my days were far from pleasant. I would wake up and wander around feeling dizzy. I still distinctly recall going for a 5 minute walk to the local gas station with the world shrouded in a grey fog and spinning around me (in retrospect, I suspect I was zigzagging rather than walking).

Afterwards, I wrote a brief report about my experiences. Basically, I nearly took my starvation diet to the extreme, and, while I did lose about 10kgs in slightly under a month, I was a mental, physical and emotional distaster for a better part of that period.

Why did you starve yourself?
