Hello all,
I picked up running and eating right two years ago. I went from 280 lbs to 195 lbs (at my best 4 months ago). After taking a couple months off for vacationing (Thanksgiving / X-mas), I got back home and jumped on the treadmill again.
However, I think I may have seriously injured myself doing HIIT right off the bat. My left ham string has been hurting like crazy since January. Every time I've gotten on the treadmill since, it burns and hurts like hell. Sitting around, it hurts... walking, it hurts... biking, etc.
My Dad is an ER doctor and he told me to stop running and put heat on it for at least 30 minutes a night for two weeks at least. In addition, he said to take 2 Aleve twice a day for two weeks as well.
I've done both for over 3 weeks now and the pain isn't going away. I have gained about 10 lbs and I am getting really frustrated not being able to run again.
I am considering a visitation to my doctor, but, before I do, I wanted to get feedback from some experienced people first. Could I have torn a tendon? Am I treating the injury incorrectly? Any ideas at all?
Thanks!
Jon
