Have I lost my endurance?

I took about a month off from running (big mistake) I would run anywhere from 4 to 5miles a day. I’m just now starting back up again. Is it possible that the endurance that I built up be completely gone? Or is it just metal. When I’m running I feel like I can hardly keep going. For example this morning I only did 2miles. :(

Really? I'm not terribly experienced, but when I take a couple weeks or a month off, I actually gain endurance.

How's your hydration and nutrition and general health and such? I mean, are we talking, "All other factors being equal?"

No. No. You will lose some endurance in a month but not much. Probably half of your perceived loss is physical and half is mental.

whats the fastest way to get my endurance back? or the fastest way to get back to running that much?

Run as hard and as far as you can. Stop running and walk until you catch your breath and your heart rate becomes manageable. Repeat.

I have the same problem sometimes. It's mostly mental. You're thinking too much. The more you think about the future, the harder it'll be to keep up. So just drop the thinking and just run. Don't set specific goals of miles, but rather running to a particular location; like run to location A, then B, then back to start point. It'll help.
