A Gazelle elliptical trainer? If so, what did you think about it? I'm thinking about buying one since they are under $100. It also says it folds away for easy storage, which is great for me because I have limited space. I just want to make sure it will be effective before I buy.

Thanks!

Hey,

I own elliptical trainer and I absolutely love it - wouldn't replace it for anything. I have tried everything - stepper, treadmill, bike, but elliptical trainer is absolutely the best!!! My advice is, don't save your money. Before I bought mine, I consulted a fitness trainer, and he said, that cheap ones are a total waste of money. And I agree. I went to the store, tried out cheap (120$) and afterwards I tried out a 600$ one, and the difference was huge!!

I am glad I bought the 600$ one, and I think it payed off - it was really worth every cent. When you work out on a quality fitness equipment, you can feel it!

(I also bought very cheap equipment, and it ended up in a basement)

gazelle -- not good

I had a regular Gazelle too.......a heap of crap -- is what it was. I'd do a little more research or save money for better quality.
Or - - - how bout a $100 pair of top quality walking/running shoes and take yourself outside?

We had a Gazelle that folded up and etc. It was a complete waste of money for my family.

I would spend the money on some amazing shoes. *grin*

Yeah, that is the general feedback I'm getting. That it's a POS. LOL Well I was just looking for someting else to do while I watch TV. Right now I do abs, pushups, lunges, squats, WO with stability ball, hand weights.

But sometimes I start zoning out! So I thought a gazelle might be better. What I really want it a super expensive elliptical machine like at the gym. It would be awesome to have, but there's not way I could afford it.

My fiance was just telling me how great regular elliptical machines are and that he wants one. *grin* He said even the cheaper ones don't break down? I'm not sure what brand or type though.

I started off with a gazelle years ago. My weight at that time was 350 pounds and i had a lot of knee and joint issues. It is not the best machine, but it was enough to get me moving and it didnt hurt my joints. As soon as i lost enough weight that i could walk more consistantly then i chose to do that instead. I think anyform of exercise is better than sitting on your butt, but I do agree that 100$ spent on a good pair of shoes is probably a better option.

I had one a few years back I liked it to start with but then it got boring so I wasted money on it.. get you a MP3 player (cheaper than an IPOD) and some shoes and go walk or run out side!!

Give it a month or so then check out sites like or craigslist.com for those well intentioned resolutioners who bought the equipment and now they've become very expensive clothes racks... there are also places where you can get second hand equipment... if the equipment is good, second hand is just fine - it doesn't have to be new.

That is a darned good idea! There is sure to be a surge of secondhand equipment in the next couple of months. I hadn't thought of that.

craigslist usually has a ton of stuff listed - and if you check with your own area - since yo generally have to pick it up - you save a bunch on shipping costs as well

also sometimes has equipment listed at reasonable prices -and 2.95 shipping... their stock changes almost daily - and they often have very limited stock so yo sometimes have to get it when you see it
