Has anyone ever heard of using Dance Dance Revolution to loose weight?

My husband and I are big video game freaks. There is one video game called dance dance revolution:(link removed) : The game consists of dance instrutions and a pad that you dance on. I played it in a store one day and man did my legs burn. I had also heard from a friend that they knew someone who lost like 20 pounds just playing the game everyday. I was wondering if anyone else had heard of that. I'll probably buy the game either way because it is at least a game that gets up me up off my butt :)

Okay, I think I'm answering my own question but I thought it might be cool for some people to know. Dance Dance Revolution seems to be a great way to get everyone including the kids off the couch. Here is a page I found with some testimonys about it::

Well, DDR does help quite some with losing weight. But i'm an expert player and i've never lost weight playing the game :/. If you play insanely enough then you can lose weight(3-8 hours a day). Or play DDR to keep you active and do other activities.

I love DDR. I don't have it at home hence I can't play.
but I think it's a fantastic way to exercise. It'll keep you moving. Especially if you're not a traditional type of exerciser like me who gets bored with routine easily.

ps... there's other games like DDR out there... I recall one set up with stands that monitors entire body movement. and then you gotta move your body to "fight" someone on screen. I forget the name of the game but it was on PS if I recall correctly. Now, that's an entire body workout.

I just bought DDR for my PS to help me lose weight. I used to work in a game store where I personally saw one boy lose 50 lbs entirely due to DDR, but I've heard that's rather unusual. The trouble with DDR is that you spend a good deal of your time standing around waiting for the next song, and losing any momentum you had. It usually isn't an end all replacement for working out.

I'm maintaining diet and exercise other than DDR, but it makes a great alternative to watching TV. I'm also taking up juggling, and am considering buying a yo-yo. What fun ways to put a little more activity into leisure times.

I know. I only want to use it as a better way to play video games than sitting on my butt playing harvest moon. it is a good alternative.

Entirely, and it's wonderful. I just bought one specifically for that :)

And - honestly - even if people say it's not the greatest cardio, I work up a sweat every time. If I can work up a sweat playing a video game (!?) then who is to judge?
