Has anyone done a fitness bootcamp?

I've been doing well with eating healthy and I've lost 12 lbs, but I really want to kick start an exercise program. I hate the gym, and I'm always looking for activities that get me moving.

I've been looking at a local fitness bootcamp. It would be 5 days a week for a month. The only concern I have is that it starts at 5:30 in the morning. I'm NOT a morning person. Has anyone done one of these? What were the results?

Also, if you're not a morning person, did it keep you motivated enough to get out of bed that early?

Thanks.

No I haven't but I have thought about it. I am so NOT a morning person so there is no way I could really go all the way through with it. I workout at 9pm every night. If I had to workout before 7 am I would die. Even though in the summer I did take a jog/walk a couple times a week during the sunrise. I think watching the sunrise was nice, and the breeze felt good so thats why I was able to make myself. If I was in a group setting I don't think I would get up. I hate working out in front of others to begin with. Good Luck!

If you're not a morning person then you're going to have a tough time with it... and what happens when you're done with the bootcamp - what would your plan be then?

The only fitness plan that works long term is one you enjoy- and can stick with long term

that said -I can get my lazy butt to work by 6am - but working out in the am - the .75 mile walk to the train is it for me -actually having to exercise -and take a shower twice? so not going to happen...

Hey there

I have done a bootcamp, it was a year ago now and it was the best thing I have ever done! I am having trouble since then as I cannot motivate myself on my own. It was just amazing to have someone telling me what to do and when to do it. I loved it!

Some people say they are too hard but for me it was exactly what I needed.

I lost 10cm off my waist and my legs and arms were so firm after it. I would recommend it to anyone.

I just wish I could do one again now, I have moved to a new area so I will have to investigate that...

I have a blog now to motivate me where I write what I have done. Well its not very old so I haven't written a lot but I figured that if my goals are written down then I kinda HAVE to aim for them.

Its called reachinmygoal2009 and its on blogspot

I think you should try bootcamp! The worst that can happen is you hate it - the best that can happen is you love it and you get fitter and look and feel better!

Thanks for the opinions, everybody. I figured I could just use the boot camp as a kick start to making me exercise regularly and help me come up with a routine I could follow on my own after the camp. I'm not inactive, but I don't really have a regular routine.

I'm especially glad to hear your results, diddit. I'm leaning toward doing it, but the only thing that bothers me is that 5:30 am start time. I know that's going to be hard for me to stick to, even if it's only for a month. I think I'll either practice getting up and working out at 5:30 to see if I can do it for any length of time, or try to find a camp that starts later!

:waving: Hi there! I took part in a Bikini Bootcamp last Spring, and it was great! A wonderful addition to my regular workouts, and really stretched me. My endurance increased and my measurements decreased, which was good enough for me! I look forward to taking another bootcamp this Spring.

Good luck

Just do it - the worst thing is that you bail out after a couple of days because it's too early.. no harm no foul...
