I have some strange pain in the Hamstring area of my right leg.
Background:
I am a runner and I typically put in 20-40 miles per week depending on the time of year. I am currently in my low mileage time and am getting ready to start getting back in to a consistent running plan.
I was on a 4 mile slow pace run 2 weeks ago and felt some pain in the area of my hamstring; I slowed and finished my last ½ mile walking. The pain was not that bad and I just assumed it was a cramp. Later that evening the pain got worse, it seemed to hurt the most at the end of the stride on that leg right at the point where the toes left the ground and the leg was suspended. With weight on the leg there wasn’t any real pain. I also noticed that when I sat on a hard chair that it felt as though I was sitting on something in the area just below the right buttock and top of the leg.
I have had injuries in the past and have followed it with rest. I did try running this morning but I could immediately feel the pain starting again so I stopped. I don’t mind sitting out and recovering but I am concerned that it may not be the issue.
Am I on the right track?
