Hey all,
I would like to start out by saying this is not my first time here. I was here before and had great success. I went from over 210 lbs down to 175 lbs in a matter of about 8 months. And if it wasn't for the support and motivation I got from the great people here I wouldn't of ever made it.
Thank You.
Now I'm back. For two reasons. One, I have gained some weight back. currently I'm sitting at 190 lbs. and I'll explain that in a while. So that brings me back here again to lose what I have gained. The second, is to finish what I have started. And that is to reach my final goal. To get to 160 lbs.
To give you a background as to my passed I started this journey in Feb 2009 when I was living in Illinois. Everything was going great I ran almost everyday, stayed on a strenuous diet, and exercised as much as I could. In Sept of 2009 I changed jobs. Which not only changed my life it changed where I lived. I now work for a private military contractor in Kuwait, and have been since Sept 2009. When I got here I weighed 175 lbs. At one time soon after starting my new job here I was down to 170 lbs. But with the hours that I work it became very hard to get out and workout and run. Over time I have discovered that I started gaining weight back, and until recently I realized just how much I did gain. How did this happen with a job that is as strenuous as this. Well let me give you an example of a typical day.
At 2:30 p.m. I wake up and prepare myself for the night.
At 4:00 p.m. My ride picks me up from my apt and we all drive to our HQ on camp which take about an hour
From 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. We gear up and get our briefing for the night.
From 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. I perform my duties
At 6:00 a.m. I gear down
At 6:30 a.m. We all leave and make the hour drive back to my apt.
At 7:30 a.m. Get back to my apt, get things ready for the next day.
At 8:30 a.m. I go to bed.
So there you go, my typical day, which by the way is six days a week. By the time I get to my apt in the morning I'm usually so tired that the only thing I want to do is sleep.
So the first thing I have to do is figure out how and when I can work in a workout. I did workout when I first got here and was doing a pretty good job at it. But that was also when I was working on days. Now and for the past almost a year I've been working at night and I have figured out one thing. While working on days I had more energy when I got off, unlike working nights I just don't have the energy to workout. I just want to sleep.
Then there is the DIET.....
Lately I have been eating nothing but fast food. (yes they have fast food in Kuwait, and on base) And it hasn't been the good stuff either. Hardees, KFC, Pizza Hut. I used to bring food with me but stopped for a couple of reasons. One I had to take that much more time to prepare it prior to work. and Secondly, buying fresh veggies here is a story in its own. The worst part of it is that fruits and veggies don't last. They typically only last about 3 days before they spoil. Why I have no idea. So in turn it I would have to go by fresh every 3 - 4 days and since the closest market is about a half hour drive from me it would take me at least 1.5 to 2 hours to just by fruits and veggies. So I stopped buying them.
So now WHAT......
Well, this is what I came up with. To start, I came back to the one place where I knew I could get the most support. My friends here on WLF. Secondly, I'm just going to have to make the sacrifice of sleep and get my ass back on the road and in the gym. And last, as for my diet I have decided I am going to start buying frozen veggies and meats, and maybe cook them a week in advance and just warm them up in the microwave when I go to eat.
Well that's all I have for now. I'll post more later. But right now I have to make a plan as to just exactly what and how I am going to pull this off.
Talk to you all later, wish me luck......
