OTHER QUESTIONS:
1. What is your current height and weight?
5’-8” in height, 212 lbs.

2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
160 lbs

3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
170 lbs

4. Why do you want to lose weight?
For my health
Want to look and feel like I did when I was in the Army

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
No

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
My wife. She is an awesome cook and I have a portion control problem when it comes to her cooking. And when I do resist her cooking she has a tendence to give me the guilt trip after she fixes a good meal and I don’t eat it.

7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
Because the doc says I do, and the fact that I can’t wear certain selections of clothing that I like.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
To step away from the television more and be more active

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
Yes, a few years ago my wife worked nights so I was able to have my own diet. It would consist of a bowl of soup for lunch at work and a salad of sort for dinner. Also, I went to the YMCA after work and workout on the elliptical machine for 1 hour 5 nights a week.

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
I only gained 15 lbs back after losing 36 lbs from the previous question. How did I gain it. I’m going to say that it has to do with not having very much activity and I have no portion control.

11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
Can’t think of any.

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
Yes

13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
Yes, when my wife doesn’t feel like cooking I would do the cooking. Since my wife doesn’t like my cooking I usually end up either cooking for myself or cooking some out of the box meals.

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
About 1 every couple of weeks. We usually go out to the bar and grill that I bartend at. The menu follows pretty much like a typical steak restaurant.

Sometimes, especially when I have a craving for something.

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
No, I don’t believe I have ever got to the point of that. I eat a lot but not to the point of binging.

Congrats on your quit smoking goal!!

Welcome to your diary. Good luck on getting down to your size. My DH was Army and I wish he would start working on getting back to when he was his Active Duty size/ fitness!!

Thanks Lynn.

My plan is to update my diary at least once a week. So hopefully I'll have some good news to report come next monday.

I thought I would post up a couple of pictures of myself for something to go off of. Thery were taken last year at a couple of archery tournaments I shot in. Not the best pictures, but I'll try to get a more current picture when I get a chance.

Week one is in the books.

Well it was a very interesting week. Getting use to the new diet and portioning my meals I've got to say was the hardest. I was able to hit the elipticle 3 times this week with an hour each time. I also spent about an hour shoveling gravel in the driveway one night last week.

Over all total weight lose: 6 pounds. So I went from 212 to 206. We're off to a good start.

Wish me luck.

Sounds like you are doing great. What is your wife's perspective of your new lifestyle change if you don't mind me asking? From your first post it sounded like she might not be supportive and that is key in making any kind of change. I hope she is on your side!!

Congrats on a succes your first week!! Its all downhill from here!

She hasn't said anything yet, but that my be because she is down with a pretty bad cold right not so I am pretty much fixing my own meals until she is back up and going.

Well when I woke up this morning I discovered that I think that I have caught the wife's cold. My head is aching, my nose is stuffed and my throut hurts. The wife asked if I had a fever yet and I told her that I didn't know and don't want to know, and that I am trying to ignore it because I have a deadline at work to meet.

The problem is, how will this effect my weight loss? I'm still going to try and hit the eliptical tonight. I just hope I am able to go the time I usually go.

Well I had my Monday morning weight in. Even thou I was sick almost all week I was able to drop 4 pounds. So now I'm down to 202. Hopefully I see that oh so missed 1 in the beginning of my weight soon.

I was able to hit the eliptical 3 times this week for an hour each time. Felt like crap doing it, but I knew I couldn't let the illness beat me.

I did start something a little different for me this last week. I created my own cookbook made up of healthy recipies I have come across. I figured if I'm going to eat healthier then I guess I should know what I'm cooking. Hopefully I'll collect several more recipies and make a wider selection for myself and family.

Now all I have to do is convince the wife to let me cook something out of it.:)

As I was driving to work this morning I came up with an additional goal that I am going to add.

Besides getting down to 160 lbs. I want to be able to pass a U.S. Army PT test which includes 2 min. of push-ups, 2 min. of sit-ups and a 2 mile run. All of which have a min. amount of each to pass.

If anybody knows what the min. for my age group is let me know (I'm 40). Also, let me know what the min. is for the 17-21 age group is also.

Dropped another 3 pounds this week. Down to 199. I thought I would be a couple pounds lighter but oh well 3 is better than nothing.

Hit the eliptical 5 nights at an hour at a time.

I think I cheated a little to much on my cheat day (Saturday). I had two Deer burgers with grilled mushrooms and onions with swiss cheese for lunch. Then for supper I had 2 1/2 slices of ham and cheese pizza. I don't know if that is what stopped me from dropping a couple more pounds or not. Either way at least I am still losing.

And best of all.

I'M UNDER 200

I decided to add a weight loss mile marker goal.
I decided that when I hit 180, I'm treating myself to a big ol Ribeye steak. It's been a few months since I had one and since it IS my favoite steak I thought that I could make that a reward to my self for when I hit the 180 mile maker.

me and u are at almost the exact same weight and have similar goals

what u say to a who can change there body the most in 3 months contest?

congrats for getting below 200! brilliant milestone :)
as for the cold issue - I hope you're feeling better now .. I'm pretty sure that if you're eating a lot more fruit and veg then your body will be able to fight the infection pretty efficiently. Here is an article I remembered reading a couple of months back and hunted it down for you:
Have a nice day
Sophie

Good article Soph.

Thanks for sharing.

Yea I am over my cold now, thank God. And even when I was sick I did cont. to hit the elipticle during that time.

HI Grey Ghost Hunter~ I am reading through your journal and you are doing Great! Congrats on yur loss so far! I just have to say I Love Texas road house. I crave thier onion Blossom's all the time. But the main reason I love it is that I could take my kids thier and they could keep themselves entertained by throwing them peanuts on the floor. LOl!!

My husband is in the army now. He is going on his six years. WOW! I just want to say Than kyou for your Serivce in the Military. You have a good day and Drink your WATER! :)

Thanks Jelly,

I know what you mean about Texas Roadhouse. I love the Cheese fries with bacon. Bad thing about that place is I always come out and want to pass out from being so full. I got to the point that I stopped eating the peanuts and limited myself to just 1 or 2 of the rolls. Otherwise I would never be able to finish my meal.

It was an honor to serve. I got thinking the other day that if it wasn't for being diagnosis with Kidney Disease. I would of hit my 20yr mark on the 24th of this month. And trust me if it wasn't for getting sick I would still be in until then and more. I loved serving in the U.S. Army. Matter of fact I was stationed at Ft. Hood back in '93 for 3 years. I was with the 1st Bn, 82nd Field Artillery, 1 Cav.
