Greetings

So I'm out of shape and I'm getting tired of being so. I'm ready to revamp my diet and get into the habit of exercising. I'm 24, 6'1" and a flabby 210lbs and that's no good.

So what's the best way for a beginner like me to...well...begin. Keep in mind that I have no idea what I'm doing inside of a gym. I'd be the two-plate guy going after the giant guys who move the whole rack of plates. Is it best to start out with just cardio and then incorporate weight training or just start doing both?

Also, is home equipment such as a Bowflex a good way to start? Or is it better to just join a gym...and if so is getting a personal trainer worth it?

HELP

either one is good. if you are easily self-motivated a home system can be great. if you feel like you need the movitavation of just being around others working out - a gym is great. Whatever you choose - using it consistently is the most important thing. Most gyms will provide at least an initial and usually follow-up routines to follow from a trainer. A personal trainer is helpful when you get to a plateau and need to bump your level, intensity, committment, etc, to a new level. Find someone (even here) that you can be accountable to on your progress and will be willing to remind you to "move it or lose it"
