Greetings! I'm Jake! =D

Hey guys and gals! I'm new to the forums so I thought I'd just say hi and introduce myself!

In March of 2011 I decided to once and for all change my health and fitness. I went from 26% body fat down to 11.5% in 3 months time. Now it's been almost a year and I'm just under 7%. It's been a life changing experience.

I'm a single father and I used that as an excuse to let my health slide. I did have some bumps in the road adjusting to parenting but I should have never let that come in the way of clean eating and exercise. I'm just glad I got it under control at 27. Here I am at 28 and I feel better than I can ever remember =D

At first learning to eat healthy and cook my own food (I was a fast food junkie) was quite the challenge. I've come to learn quite a bit about proper nutrition and exercise and now I'm hooked on helping others get fit!

My latest project is helping people make easy grocery lists to save them the most amount of money. I personally have found eating clean is actually CHEAPER than eating junk food. I have a grocery list article I'm currently working on (should be done by the end of the day).

It features most of the foods I buy from Costco including prices and pictures. I need to add some that I get from whole foods and trader joes but for the most part you can see the majority of them. By the end of the day I'll also have budget lists on there where you can click on $100 - $150 - $200 - $250 - $300+ and it'll give you a recommended list based on how much you want to spend.

I always appreciate any feedback. A year ago I was helping myself get fit, now I'm trying to pay it forward! My grocery list article is at http://jakesfitclub.com/jakes-current-grocery-list/ check it out!

Hi there!

First of all: cute kid :)

I am a 22 year old female and new to this site as well. Up until recently, I had maintained my weight at the 150 mark by going on drastic calorie-restricting plans but this past couple months, I gained almost twenty pounds from over-consumption of foods I had been limiting and way less daily exercise. I'm getting quite tired of going through extremes to lose weight so am in the market for a more sustainable, healthy lifestyle plan. Do you know if the PX90 plan works for females as optimally as it does for males, and did you count calories? Again, your transformation is amazing and your sincerity in wanting to help others is humbling.

It definitely works for girls just as well as it does for guys, my girlfriend is living proof! If you stick to the workouts and the nutrition you'll see great results.

Counting calories is part of the game. Stuff doesn't grow on trees anymore so you have to know what it's worth in calories! I use Loseit.com for easy food tracking. Small learning curve at first, but after that it's easy. Also tells you what your percentage of calorie are from protein / carb / fat which is helpful for P90X, since it has you on low carb high protein for the first 30 days.

Let me know if you decide to try P90X I'd love to help you through it!

PS: And there's no starving on P90X. You'll have a deficit but you should never go hungry. (Check out my grocery list for some great ideas tailored to your budget!)
