Hi everyone - only just found this great site! I'm originally from Manchester, UK, but have lived in Red Deer, AB since 2003. I've been a yo-yo dieter for the past 15 years, mainly since having my two kids, and now I've recently turned 40, I have to do something about my weight. I'm not far off 200lbs, size 16/18 and 5'6". I am tired of feeling out of breath for just climbing a flight of stairs, huffing and puffing when I bend down to tie shoe/boot laces, and constantly plagued with back ache. Heart disease runs in my dad's side of the family and weight-related diabetes runs in my mum's side.
I did have plans for the new year of 2008 to lose 50lbs in time for my 40th birthday (July 4th), however, personal stress made sure that idea went out of my head! Now, still weighing the same I did after Christmas, and with a lovely hot Albertan summer here, I hate the body I'm in and need to make some drastic changes. My biggest problems are beer and large portions, but now I've cut out the beer, it's the portion size I have to train myself to accept. I have always followed the Weight Watchers plan over the years and have been successful (sometimes!!), so I'm going to drag out all my points books and begin my daily food journal and hopefully by Christmas I plan to be the new me!
Thanks for listening and thanks for the inspiration in some of your weight loss stories.
