Green Smoothies

Most people following the Standard American Diet (SAD) do not consume enough leafy greens. Greens nourish the body with minerals and offer chlorophyll. "The molecule of chlorophyll has only one atom that makes it different from a molecule of human blood. According to teachings of Dr. Ann Wigmore, to consume chlorophyll is like receiving a healthy blood transfusion." by ingesting greens with fruit in the form of smoothies with a ratio of fruits to veggies as 60:40 the fruit taste dominates the flavor, making it more palatable for those who absolutely hate to eat greens.

Here are a few of my favorite recipes, but I encourage you all to experiment with your own mixes. They may look green and frightening but I promise you they are delicious and loaded with vitamins and minerals like A, E, C, K, iron, and calcium just to name a few.

Morning Blend

1 to 2 cups spinach
1 large banana
1 mango (frozen chunks work fine too)
add necessary amount of water (varies depending on blender) and blend!

Super Green Machine

2 large curly leaves Kale
2 small pears
juice of one orange
add water and blend!

Sweet Perfection

1-cup strawberries
2 bananas
1/2 bunch romaine
Water

Garden of Life makes a powdered drink blend derived from whole food plant sources that fills all your daily vegetable requirements (according to the USRDA, I believe).

It doesn't beat eating the veggies themselves (for their fiber, water, and filling properties) but it's an alternative if you can't stomach eating them frequently.

The morning blend is actually my favorite, I love to have that before I head out for my morning run. Lately I've been able to get some really nice fresh mangos too.

Thanx RedJade,
Those smoothie recipe's sound deliscious!!, Im gonna try them out first thing. N1.

PS: Would using skimmed milk instead of water be an option? - I drink around 4ltres of water a day as it is!...

It wouldn't be an option for me because aside from being vegan I'm allergic to cow's milk. But you could try it out and see how it tastes.
