Ok so I was reading 50/50 by Dean Karnazes and throughout the book he throws in bits of information regarding proper training, cross training, rest and nutrition. In one of his nutrition sections he talks about how he had cut out refined sugars from his diet and one example was switching over to Greek yogurt because "it doesn't have all the extra sugar added". Now I read this and thought, well I could probably do with some less sugar so when I went food shopping at Whole Foods I went looking for Greek Yogurt. I was dissapointed to only find a single brand, Chobani, for sale there. I bought a big one of plain and some smaller ones with fruit. I compared the lables and was shocked to see that despite what I read, that the sugar content (even on the plain) was almost identical to that of a normal serving of my Stonyfield Banilla flavor.
Are there other brands out there that one can buy? Is this what a normal greek yogurt sugar content is? Anyone have any further advantages of eating greek yogurt over something like stonyfield farm?
