Great big howdy

Came across this much by accident, so it must be fate. lol.

I've tried many diets in the past, in fact pretty much everything from not eating much at all, eating everything I want, right up to healthy eating plans and even weight loss programmes designed for hospital patients that need to lose weight fast.
Guess what! None of em worked.

I was always a slender person before I had kids ( small enough to work with race horses) then my weight shot from 7.5st to 14st (well they were twins). Anyways, after birth I managed to drop back down to 9st at which I was comfy (I'm about 5ft 4 - 5). But over the years comfort eating ensued and I now weigh roughly 14st but tend to avoid the scales.

I have lots of baggage from life - who doesn't - and I'm finally accepting that fad diets are not going to work and that healthy eating and exercise is the only way to go.
Fortunately for me I have plenty of gym equipment. Unfortunately for me I don't seem to have the enthusiasm to go with it. But I'm working on it!

Will enjoy posting on this forum and hopefully can use the experience of others to help me overcome one or two problems and get on my road to figure recovery.
Incidentally my downfall is of course Dairy Milk chocolate.:D

Hi lindy, and welcome from a fellow Brit

I was close to where you are a couple of years ago, and I lost 2 stone just by cutting most (not all) of the junk out of my diet and cutting down my portion sizes. Smaller plates really work because they trick your brain into thinking you've had as much to eat as usual.

As for exercise, the more reading you do here, the more you'll realise that you don't have to spend hours in the gym every day to lose weight. Try to make exercise a part of your daily routine, and it will start to get easier.

I know what you mean about Dairy Milk. Milk chocolate is very addictive, I think. I stopped eating it altogether, and changed over to good quality dark chocloate (Green & Blacks Organic is my favourite), which is just as good but not so addictive - in fact, I find I can only eat a small amount at a time. The only milk chocolate I've had since I really started dietting seriously a month ago is 2 Mini Eggs (my partner bought me a tube for Easter because I said I didn't want a whole Easter egg). I could polish off the whole tube easily, but I've told myself I'll have 2 a day, and that's it, and when they're gone, they're gone. Chocolate is really hard, but it is something you can beat if you're determined and you don't deny yourself it completely.

Anyway, it's good to see you here, and it will be nice getting to know you.

I love your avatar. You can do it. WLF keeps me going day after day. It has been an awesome source of support and information.

Do start a diary and tell us more of your plan.

Welcome.

Welcome aboard and best of luck to ya. I look forward to hearing more about you and what you are doing :)
