Hi Everyone!
I am just graduating from university and am moving to New Zealand in two months. As soon as I had a chance to breathe from finishing school, I realized I gained 20lbs in the last year (going from 150 to 170) which is a lot considering I'm only 5'3".
I had been really active in high school and it just seems each year since the weight has crept up on me a little bit at a time. Now it's reached the point where I'm not happy with any photo, embarrassed to go out with friends, and terrified to move to New Zealand. I guess maybe not terrified, but it seems a lot of my friends over there lead VERY healthy lifestyles going to the gym almost everyday. And of course I'm going to Australia first with three of my friends who look drop-dead gorgeous in bikinis!
Anyways! I have two months before I head off and have started to do everything I can to start losing weight and getting in shape. I want to be able to climb mountains and run on the beach without being the fat kid slowing everyone down. So I've done a couple of things. I started at weight watchers last week AND I've hired a personal trainer who I will be seeing for resistance training 3times/week for the next 8 weeks. He also made a "fitness prescription" for me requiring me to do half an hour of resistance training 4-5 days a week, and half an hour of cardio 5-6 days a week. ALSO, my personal trainer has gone over my diet with me to make sure that I'm not only following weight watchers, but following his guidelines for maximum potential weight loss.
I need to eat every 3-4 hours and I need to make sure I'm getting equal parts of fibrous carbs (fruits and veggies), starchy cards (rice, bread, etc), and protein. If I'm going to eat after dinner it has to be protein. I also have to drink a tonnes of water and take a multi-vitamin every day.
I know that the most I can expect to lose in the next two months is about 15-20lbs, but at least it will get me started and motivated. Hopefully my plan will work - and I'll keep you all posted on my progress! Good luck everyone!
