What and whose meal plans are you guys following? How do you stay true to them even when working and having a social life? Its been hard for me to do both and i wanted to see what you guys were doing and I also want to hear what kind of struggles you guys have with meal planning and weight tracking?

I have used weight watchers and liked it because it was flexible and I got to use my own food. The online app made it easy to track.
The problem i've been reading with weight watchers, not saying that it isn't working for you and what not, is just that people are counting points for foods that aren't necessarily considered healthy and afterwords a lot of people end up dropping it because they either can't break the eating habits that they have or they simple just don't want to keep adding the points.

But needless to say ijustwannabefit, i'm glad its working for you though.

I've lost my motivation for it now so I am not currently "on plan". When I was on it it was great. I found that my portions were way out of control and that I wasn't getting enough fruits and veggies. It helped me get back on track and lose 30 pounds. I like tracking things and the graphs really appealed to me. I enjoyed tracking my activity as well as my food.
Just because something works for one person, doesn't mean it will work for others. You need to find a combination of things that work for you and stick to it.
They have changed their plan to account for some of the unhealthy choices. In the past when I was on it I could have a cookie for 1 point or a banana for 2 points, so I would choose the cookie. Now they have it so that the fruit is "free" to help people make better choices. You can try to cheat any system, but you will only be cheating yourself in the end.

I would say, the best is to stick to what is the closed possible to an impeccable diet for 30 Days. So for 30 days, no sugar, no Junk food, no food that you may be sensitive to (gluten and and dairy products principally), no alcohol... And after 30 days, you are not addicted to those foods anymore, and you have had the chance to get all the benefits from eating in an "impeccable" way, so that's an experience that can serve you as a reference. You know you can eat in an impeccable way over a long period of time.

And so eating out of your diet with friends in a restaurant or drinking alcohol from time to time in a social place is not a problem, because from this 30 day period, you have acquired total control over what you eat. :)

I tend not to follow meal plans that are created by someone else, i.e. Weight Watchers for those same reasons; they can be hard to follow. I just write out my daily menus for the week a week before. Breakfast is a smoothie or juice, lunch is a salad, and dinner is another veggie-filled meal with a protein and a fat or carb (but not carbs and fats together). As far as staying true to the plan when socializing or being at work, again the key is to plan ahead. Bring your healthy lunches and snacks to work. When you go out with friends, resolve to eat only one bad thing, if you forgot to being your own snacks. That helps me, it's okay to live a little after all. You don't have to be perfect. That doesn't mean you can eat all the junk you want when you're out though!
