Good Lifts/Bad Lifts

I've noticed that sometimes when I go in to lift, I have an awesome lift; i'm able to do more sets and more weight, and the day after I can really feel it. Other days, like today, I go in to the gym and I'm just not happy with what I did. It seems like my muscles get fatiged and are maxed out a lot quicker. Is this just how weight lifting goes, or does this depend on your diet? Can anyone help here?

I actually get that, but it actually depends on YOUR mood, if your "pumped" then you will work harder, but if your just doing it one day when your not really "ready" you wont work as hard, but its good to try and get into the mood to do a workout staright-away in the morning.
 
I think I know exactly what you mean. On Wed. I working on my Chest, so I start with an incline bench, then a flat bench 4 sets of each. I couldn't finish out the last set, I just had nothing in me.

But the next day, I wasn't sore at all. It didn't even feel like I worked out :(
