Good jump rope shoes

Are the Nike Air Code Training shoes good for jump rope? I've bought a pair, but I'm having second thoughts (haven't used them yet). Can anyone recommend a pair?

Thanks.

I took a trip to Niketown for help on a good pair of jump rope shoes a week ago. What they suggested was anything with Nike Shox Technology. Why? It provides the most cushioning, and it reduces the risk of impact-related injuries. Plus, I was recovering from shin-splints due to bad jump rope shoes. But I think Air Max technology (what the Air Code has) does the same type of thing. From their website "max-cushioning, provides protection and handles impact... takes a pounding." I can only assume Nike Shox is better than Nike Air Max for jumping rope because that is what they finally decided to sell me. Plus, I think u want to minimize any impact to prevent injuries. I walked out with a pair of Nike Shox TG. I don't know what they boy version of this sneaker would be.

They also offered Nike Free Trainer because it builds muscle. But, I didn't take those because it didn't have as much cushioning.

Thanks. There isn't a Air Shox for men, though.
I notice that both shoes (Air Code and Air Shox) have the impact absorbtion springs on the heels. When jump roping, I'm landing on the balls of my feet. Are there shoes with support for the balls of the feet?
I've been jump roping bare foot on carpet with padding, and recently I've been experiencing discomfort in the arch of my feet. My knees also have become a little creaky.

Fitness Member,

About a week ago, through iGoogle, I stumbled across this forum link & joined just to reply to ur jump rope shoes ?. Plus, since I had all this new found knowledge from Nike + net, then I had to help you. Seriously, I was jumping rope barefoot too (with sneakers) and a brace. I did get that pain in my arch, but as soon as I switched sneakers it was gone. That whole forefoot support was a big thing, but I already tried a pair that has cushioning for the ball of foot (Nike Shox for Dance) and the Nike Shox TG work better. Their also lightweight. In my case they picked out a pair with lateral stuff thats good running through the rope. And this new model had more cushioning than any of their other models. So, I think u should call up Nike or go down to on of their stores and just tell them to pick 'em out for jumping rope. There are so many cross-trainers that have Shox for men. If not keep the ones u have, even though they look clunky, and put gels pads in them. I have them for the ball of foot.

Running sneakers and cross-trainers are the best choices. Why? Running is probably the sport that most resembles jumping rope. Your knees could be creaky because u need more muscle. Walking does the trick for me. Since your arches hurt, why don't you get the Free Trainer. I've heard good things about them. You already have the Air-Code... but maybe u need foot muscle (even though u were bare foot). From reading, I found out that working out barefoot builds better muscle. So the Free Trainer gives you that + some cushion for landing. Even though I want these myself, I still recommend the most cushy sneaker you could find... that also light-weight. Forget the gel-pads.

Thanks for the recommendation, I went to Ropixshoes.com and got a pair of the gray orange shoes. I love them. Perfect for jump rope and I wear them with my jeans all that time. I wish they had more of a selection but I'm happy for now with what I have.
