Going to the movies

Most movie goers like to have a snack to eat while watching a movie. Movie theatre popcorn I've read is one of the worst foods you could eat. It is even bad for you as is, and putting extra butter on it makes it even worse. Add some candy and a $4.50 large sugary soda and you have probably already blew all your days calories on this little "snack".

To avoid this and the ridiculous high prices it is always fun to smuggle in your own food and drink. I heard that movie theatres make most their money off refreshments than anything else. I suppose this is why they don't allow outside food.

I always chuckle when I hear a soda can being opened in the theatre. Have you ever smuggled in your own stuff to the movies?

I take pumpkin seeds or my own freshly made at home popcorn when I'm being especially good :) I think the kids popcorn at my cinema (us Brits don't put butter and other topping on our popcorn..it's just sweet or salted) is around 370 calories so as long as I have enough calories left over I can get that! And a bottle of water/diet soda from home! Saves money!

Heck yeah! I like to smuggle in Jolly Ranchers! best hard candy, ever!
Sometimes, If I'm with a friend who owns a purse, I'll have her carry soda for us.

I always sneak in food and drink to the movies! The only time I don't is if we go out to eat beforehand when I know I won't be hungry. I always bring a big purse and sneak in a bottle of water and my fat-free popcorn I pop at home. It goes in a big ziploc bag in my purse. I've been doing it for years, even when I'm not trying to lose weight. I am just used to my popcorn and movie popcorn is way too greasy and gross for me. It actually makes me nauseous. And I refuse to pay $3 or whatever it is for bottled water.

Usually my husband and I share the popcorn and the water. If he feels like a soft drink or candy than we will pay for it from the theater. Every once in awhile we sneak in candy for him, but usually we just eat the popcorn I bring.

If the theaters would provide fat-free popcorn I would buy it from them. They should offer that for people that prefer it. They have diet soft drink, why not diet popcorn?

And we only go to the movies on weekdays when it's cheaper. The prices have gotten ridiculous! The only time we pay full price is for when the new Harry Potter movies come out because I simply have to see the midnight showing! ;)

Ha I smuggle stuff all the time. When I was hardcore into calorie counting I would made some chicken wraps, bring nuts, or air pop some pop corn. If I didn't have anything and wanted something I would buy the "child size" popcorn and force the person I am with to eat most of it :p

We once took a tub of our own ben and jerrys in and shared it throughout the course of the film.
Cost about half the price of buying it there lol

However the majority of the time I don't buy anything but the tickets as it's WAY too expensive anyway, and we usually have a subway first.
