From December - March, I lost around 9-10kg, by a mixture of cardio and resistance training, and eating 6 smaller meals a day and restricting carbohydrate intake to one meal a day. Over this time I noticed a considerable improvement in my cardiovascular fitness.
In the last month or so, I haven't been as strict with my diet (by no means going back to fast food, just not watching the calories as closely), and it seems as though I've put on 3kg. Over the time from my lowest weight til now, I've dropped my cardio, and increased my weights training. When I look in the mirror, it doesn't seem that I'm putting on bulk (whether it be from fat or muscle, but it can be hard to tell if it goes on evenly). My question is, would this 3kg be mostly putting fat back on, or building muscle or a combination? I have definitely noticed improvements in strength as well.
Any insights would be much appreciated!
