Getting very lean

My goal is to get down to 8% body fat by the end of the summer. I have put on some more fat than usual in the past year and I am somewhere around 13%. I may not reach my goal, and I'm ok with that. But I have a question regarding the amount and type of cardio.

I was wondering if normal daily cardio will be enough? Or will I need to encorporate interval training as well? Usually when I do cardio it's about 30 minutes, with my heart rate right around 130 (around 70% of max), will this be acceptable to getting very lean?

This time I am going about everything perfect (or almost). I actually do cardio twice a day. 20-30 minutes in the morning, then 20 minutes of cardio later in the followed by lifting for about 30-40 minutes (I lift 5 days a week). My diet is very clean, I maintain a deficit of 300-500 calories.

I've read a lot of misinformation, or exaggerated information. I want to know if following this will eventually get me to 8%? Just want to find out because I have never been quite that lean before and I want to make sure I'm following the right path so to speak.

Let me know if you think this will work. Also let me know if there is anything you would improve? Thanks!

As long as your diet contain a fair amount of protein your approach should be good enough to drop in body fat %. Being in a deficit without enough protein or lifting weights usually leads to muscle loss which in itself contributes to (unwanted) weight loss, this you've probably read about. With that said I think your normal cardio routine will be enough to reach your goals but you could always spice it up, once or twice every week, with some interval training, just for the fun of it.

Good luck with your goal this summer!

Awesome! Yea I have decided to encorporate a circuit I got from muscle & fitness twice a week. I can post what it has for those of you who are interested. The one I probably will be doing wll be the following exercises:

DB burpee clean & press (10 reps), DB Thruster (10 reps), DB Snatch (20 reps), & DB Woodchopper (10 reps per side).

A DB thruster is basically where you set up like you're going to do an overhead press with dumbbells at shoulder level, then you go down into a squat position and thrust them up while coming back up to a standing position. Pretty similar to a push press. Anyway, I'm going to be adding this 2-3 days a week and hopefully it will help me on top of my normal daily cardio.
