Getting Started

Hi all! My name is Shelbylynn and I have been overweight for around 7 years or so. I am 19 now so it has been a struggle in my early teen years being overweight when all of my friends were tiny and small and could wear the kind of clothes i wanted. I found it frustrating that, even though i was so athletic throughout my younger years and high school, I still couldn't manage my weight. I hope to lose at least 50 lbs.! It's a rather overwhelming thought for me because i have a difficult time with routine and I tend to be stubborn. I hope to push through and get healthy because as of now, my high cholesterol can put me at risk later on in life and I don't want to suffer. Feel free to reply or comment!:seeya:

Welcome to the forum.

The best thing that you can do for your cholesterol is start eating beans... I am a big fan of baked beans (the low sugar low sodium variety) and firmly believe in eating 3 cans a week. I have mine with things like pork loin steaks or dusted fish...

Hi!

When I started out losing weight, I also had my doubts if I was able to keep it up and stick to the routine.
I started what I called a "diary of change". First entry: stating my goals, and reasons why I was doing this.
Helped me a lot when I thinking about having a cheatday or taking a workout off.

Good luck!
