Getting started

Hi. I'm new to the site. I have been interested in pilates for a while now. I have never really exercised before. I was wondering if pilates would be good for me. I want to be more flexible, loose my belly and loose the fat around my hips and theighs too. I want to get in shape. I am 165lbs right now and I am 5'8. Any advice? Thanks.

Go to your local library and seek out books and videos. See if you can find a good class to get you started.

I started Pilates in the fall and just love it. The best part is how quickly you find yourself progressing. Anyone can do it, it's portable (so you could do it on vacation/in a hotel room) and is no/low impact.

good luck!

Welcome

Welcome Missy. Pilates is a beneficial workout. You should also include some strength training as well. Also your diet is vital in reducing bodyfat.

Pilates

Hello I am a Pilates instructor and Pilates would be great for you.
Pilates is not targeted at losing weight but it is a whole system workout and it wakes the body up and all its workings and you start to want to get going. It is great to do in conjunction with a diet that is well balanced as it helps to remove wastes and toxins from the body. People do lose weight on Pilates but it is not targeted at that. It definitely reshapes the body and tones and lengthens muscles
Look at my website there is all the information you are looking for.
